First iceman calves hit the ground
July 2022
Mackas are excited to have the first-ever Texas Iceman calves hit the ground!
Born early, easy calving, long-bodied and super soft skin, the first calves have not disappointed. We look forward to 1000 commercial calves this spring, 150 ET calves and 75 stud calves.
Robert Mackenzie says, "If you study the pedigree of Iceman R725, combined with his impressive eye appeal and breed-leading performance, it makes him a leading young sire."
Iceman is backed by generations of maternal strength from the well-respected "Undine" cow family. His dam Undine H647 has bred exceptional bulls, and her sons have averaged over $37,000.Then you consider Iceman's Grand dam Undine Z183, she has done the same in selling around $1 million worth of bulls and also bred exceptional females at the same time.
Actions speak louder than words, and as you continue to go back through his maternal pedigree, you can see the consistency of high-performance breeding.
Iceman's pedigree also includes his sire, who comes from a solid maternal base. The Poss herd in the USA is renowned for its maternal power and breeding consistency. Poss Maverick replicates all of those traits.
Then you look at his data set, which offers an outstanding balance of easy calving, low birth, high growth, excellent fertility and milk, and a nice balance of carcass data without extreme.
Phenotypically, Iceman ticks the boxes. He is structurally sound with excellent feet and legs, combined with a tremendous length of the body which makes him so well balanced. He is well-laid in the shoulder with impressive neck extension, giving him real presence and sire appeal. He boasts an outstanding head and jaw, along with a great carcass. He has a width across the top, extending right down the hind leg.
His skin is as soft as silk, demonstrating his easy-doing ability. To top it all off, his temperament is second to none, which is vital in our program.
We are so excited to have Iceman semen available worldwide through our partners Genetics Australia. Nigel Semmens from Genetics Australia says "Iceman is one of the leading young sires to hit the market in recent years" and has semen available, including sexed semen for those special joinings.
