We are excited to welcome Thunderstruck T383 to join our sire team in 2023. Following our breeding principles of Pedigree, Phenotype and Performance we have found this young sire that we believe fits our program and amplifies our focus on breeding high performance sustainable cattle.
Thunderstruck combines some of the worlds strongest maternal genetics from his sire, Rawhide coming out of the powerful “Poss” program in the US . The first Rawhide daughters are now in production in the US, they are special..! encompassing what we want in our cow herd. Fertile, productive, easy fleshing, high milking, easy care cows.
Thunderstruck’s dam is a high-performance cow who derives from one of the original Texas foundation families that have bred to the top end of the Texas program. Her production record to date is exceptional and we would continue to expect great things from this cow.
We fell in love with his extraordinary type. His clean front, length of body, beautiful balance strong head and super sound structure. The dimensions and angularity through his hind end along with the natural thickness across the top and muscle definition down the hind leg is impressive. A real key for us is his soft skin, easy fleshing ability. This fits so well with our focus on breeding cattle that convert grass into beef more efficiently, but still ensuring weight, yield and carcass performance in the shortest time from birth to plate which emphasises our mission of the most sustainable farming practices.
The pedigree, combined with the phenotype and the well-balanced performance data that we find with Thunderstruck made him a must. His calving ease, low birth weight yet solid growth performance, plenty of milk followed by well balanced carcass data with high EMA, great RBY and strong IMF completed an ideal package for our program. To top off all of the above is an exceptional temperament, he is puppy dog quiet and a pleasure to handle, a key trait for us in our program. We look forward to the contribution that he will not only make to our program but the Australian beef industry.
